The Delta School Celebrates its 66th Anniversary in 2024

In the mid 1950’s, a young mother of a child with social, emotional and learning disabilities, disheartened with the available education programs, met with three prominent professionals in the field of education.  From that contact grew what is today the Delta School. 

For 66 years, the program has provided not only excellence in education, but has been dedicated to what is now known as addressing the needs of the “whole child.”

Although the special education curriculum has evolved over 66 years, the original concept of teaching the whole child in a welcoming environment remains the principal tenant of the Delta School program.

Delta School’s Extended School Year begins during the first week of July.  This eight week program runs Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  In order to prevent educational regression, a specially designed instructional program is implemented.  Student and community activities are also organized to compliment the academic learning experience.
